Tools of the Trade

Because I am a sucker for this sort of advertising, I recently bought a Fisher Space Pen (famously designed to work for American astronauts in zero gravity at a cost of $1MM, while the Soviets opted to use a pencil.) It is a nice pen, although the pocket clip is detachable and detaches itself on a whim, at the slightest gust of a minor idea, and will no doubt soon be lost. I mourn it in advance, and will do so all morn.

I also bought a Moleskine 5×8.35″ plain notebook (after hundreds of dollars in PDAs, it turns out that this is the organizer I actually use). It is advertised as ‘The legendary notebook of Hemingway, Picasso, Chatwin.’ An American author, a Spanish artist, … and a failed freeware messenger client for Windows? Who knew?
